Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 4, 2026
brevtool is a privacy-first platform. This policy describes what data we collect (very little), how it is used, and what rights you have. The short version: we do not collect personal data, we never see your files, and we use no tracking cookies.
1. What We Collect
We collect anonymous, aggregate analytics data via Google Analytics. This includes:
- Page views (which page was visited, when)
- Approximate country (derived from IP address, not stored)
- Referrer source (where visitors came from)
- Browser and OS type (aggregate only)
We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses (stored), device identifiers, or any data that could identify an individual user. No account is required and no account data is stored.
2. File Processing
All file processing on brevtool happens entirely inside your browser. When you use a tool such as Merge PDF, Compress Image, or MP4 to MP3:
- Your file is read into your browser's memory.
- Processing is performed by JavaScript/WebAssembly running in your browser tab.
- The output is generated in your browser's memory.
- You download the result directly from your browser.
We never see, store, receive, or transmit your files or their contents. brevtool's servers serve only the application code. No file-processing infrastructure exists on our end because none is needed.
3. Cookies and Local Storage
brevtool itself sets no first-party tracking cookies. The only browser storage we set directly is:
- localStorage (theme)
We store your light/dark mode preference (a single string: "light" or "dark") in localStorage so the page loads in the correct theme. This data never leaves your device.
Our analytics provider (Google Analytics) and ad provider (Google AdSense) may set cookies to measure aggregate site traffic and serve ads. These cookies never have access to your file contents or tool inputs.
4. Third-Party Services
brevtool uses two third-party services:
- Google AdSense
We display non-intrusive ads served by Google AdSense to support the free service. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings. These ads do not have access to your files or tool inputs.
- Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure aggregate site traffic — page views, referrer sources, and approximate country. Google Analytics may set cookies. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Analytics data never includes file contents or tool inputs.
5. Data Retention
We do not store user data. Anonymous aggregate analytics (page view counts and similar statistics) are retained by Google Analytics per its default retention settings. No personal data, no file data, and no user-specific records exist on our systems — there is nothing to retain and nothing to delete.
6. Your Rights
Because we collect no personal data about individuals, there is no personal record to access, correct, export, or delete. You have full and complete privacy by design, not by request.
If you are a resident of the EU, UK, or California and have questions about how your rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA apply to our service, please contact us and we will respond promptly.
7. Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy, please contact us at privacy@brevtool.com.
This policy may be updated occasionally. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of brevtool after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
